Center for Church Leadership Vision & Goals
Mission statement: The Center for Church Leadership (CCL) seeks to address the spiritual needs of Hanover's students and the leadership needs of regional churches and denominations through a series of interconnected and collaborative programs that provide opportunities for growth and development.
Campus-wide mentoring is our signature program; the one that students enter to explore intensely their relationship with God and the directions in which God might be calling them. The Spirit has called 106 students to participate in this program since we began; many of them have continued working for several years.
A discernment group designed to focus on encouraging a small and select number of students to consider a possible “call” to ministry.
The Director of Church Relations will promote student recruitment and the Pre-Ministry program at Hanover by working with congregations that have traditionally enrolled students at Hanover as well as those with active youth ministry programs.
- Church and Campus Scholarships
The scholarships will be awarded to students who possess traits of character, leadership, and academic ability which in the pastor's opinion demonstrate the promise to become outstanding Christian leaders, either as a minister or a lay person.
The Continuing Education Program will be designed to a) provide a means of continuing education for regional pastors, especially those of small- to medium-sized congregations; and b) help to equip (or: to help equip?) lay leaders through training and education to strengthen the life and ministry of the local church.
The Director of Church Relations, Christopher Roseland, will develop relationships with churches and their leaders that will support the Pre-Ministry program through student recruitment and internship placements; and will support the Continuing Education Program by identifying educational needs and promoting course offerings or seminars that address those needs. Primarily, the director will be a development officer charged with raising funds to sustain the CCL.
